Image size is approximately 4144x2822. North is up in this image. The
face on spiral galaxy in NGC 5364, a combination ring/spiral with one
extended arm (the pec classification - SA(rs)bc pec). It is the namesake of an
informal group named the "NGC 5364 Group" nearby galaxies of
similar distance and redshift are NGC 5338,5348,5356, and 5360 - the distance of
NGC 5364 is 70 million light years (by redshift estimate) and 57.4 million
light years (by redshift independent estimate) . The Abell Galaxy Cluster, ACO
1809 is to the right and at a much further distance about 1.05 billion
light years lookback time. Also, NGC 5364 was multiply observed / discovered and
is a duplicate of NGC 5364 There are several quasars visible in this image with high
redshifts (one at 3.400 with lookback time of 11.83 billion light
years). These objects,
information, background galaxies and some of the brighter stars are identified in the
annotated
image. Horizontal FOV is approximately 39 arc minutes. Full size
image scale is approximately 1.27 arcsec/pix.. This image replaces an
earlier image in the Archives here. Image center is approximately - Equatorial 2000: RA: 13h 54m 38s Dec: +05° 06' 47"
