Comet C2011 L4(PANSTARRS)

Scope: Sigma 150 mm DSLR lens @f/4.5 Location: Poway CA (Top of Stonebridge Parkway);  12 March 2013;  Camera: Canon 350D

Exposure: 3.2 sec at ISO 1600 and 4 sec at ISO 400 (f/8) - two images registered on comet (and moon separately).

Processing: Multiple images were captured in Raw format. Two were selected as optimal and combined. Because of the continuously changing position of the moon, the comet and the horizon, the moon and comet were separately registered. The combine was done in Photoshop. Noise reduction was applied to the background. Because the comet was so close to the horizon, there was significant extinction in green and blue. The color was rebalanced in Photoshop.
