NGC 6946 in Cygnus
Archives

Scope: C8  f/6 Location: Laguna Mountains CA   9/27/2003  Camera: ToUcam SC3

Exposure: 8 x 120  sec, 8 x 20 sec  Luminance with IR Block filter, 6 x 80 sec RGB color exposures

Processing: Images were captured and aligned in K3CCDTools and saved as FITS. Luminance and Color master frames were coregistered in Astroart with some low pass filtering. Luminance and Color FITS were combined in Photoshop with some Luminance Layering. The different Luminance exposures were combined to de-saturate the core somewhat. Loreal and SGBNR were used for image enhancement after the color combine. Final touches in Photoshop.

This image series was taken the same night as NGC 7331 as the object crossed the meridian. As such, the GEM mount (Celestron AS) could not image across the meridian so I  took the Luminance on the East side; then took the NGC 7331 Luminance (East side), and then switched the mount to the West for the color exposures. Approximate total horizontal FOV is 15'
