Scope: Megrez II f/4.9 Location: Laguna Mountains, CA 31 August 2008 Camera: Artemis285
Exposure: (Two Frame Mosaic) 8 x 8 min H-Alpha, 8 x 1.5 min RGB Exposures (each frame)
Processing: Images were captured with Artemis Capture (as FITs). Aligned/stacked and dark subtracted in Astroart with Sigma Combine. H-Alpha and Color channels were scaled and color balanced in Astroart. Channels were co-registered in Astroart. Luminance construction consisted of the H-Alpha exposure. Curves and Levels applied in Photoshop to the Luminance construction to optimize object features. A light background noise reduction was applied to the luminance construction in PixInsight LE (SBNR). Final LRGB combine was done in Photoshop using Luminance Layering in LAB color Space. A light sharpening was applied to nebula regions. Mosaic combine of the two frames was done in Photoshop. Final Image size is approximately 2020 x 1392.
All exposures in this image were guided; North is up in this image. IC 5068 is a region of emission nebulosity in the constellation of Cygnus. The nebulosity is hydrogen gas excited to self emission by intense nearby stars. The region just above this frame contains the well known Pelican and North American Nebulas in Cygnus. This image replaces an earlier image that can be seen in the Archives here. The Horizontal FOV is 110'.
