NGC 5139 - Omega Centauri

Scope: ST80  f/3 Location: Blair Valley - Anza Borrego CA   3/22/2003  Camera: Vesta 690

Exposure: 7 x 40 sec and 15 x 20 sec color frames with IR block filter

This image is a combination of of the two exposures. It was taken the same night as that of the IC405 and IC410 nebulas also on this site. It was late and I  had already done several hours of imaging. On a whim I pointed the scope at Omega Centari for my first look at this object and decided to image a few frames. I was pretty pleased with the result given that I was on a whim, the images were unguided, and the scope was pointed nearly horizontal. Horizontal FOV is 50'
