Scope: C8  f/4.7,  Location: Del Mar, CA   15 Feb. 2007  Camera: Artemis285

Exposure: 15 x 30 sec  Luminance with IR Block Filter (bin 1x1); 8 x 30 sec RGB (1x1 bin)

Processing: Images were captured Artemis Capture (as FITs). Aligned/stacked in Registax 3 and saved as FITS. Luminance and Color channels were scaled and rough color balanced in Astroart. Central Gradient removal was performed in Astroart. Channels were co-registered in Astroart. The 30 sec IR block exposures were used as the main luminance construction with level adjustments and curves to bring out dim stars. Final LRGB combine was done in Photoshop.   Final touches were done in Photoshop.  Final Image size is approximately 1392x1040.

North is up in this image. M50 is an open cluster located in the constellation of Monoceros. It's distance from Earth is approximately 3,200 light years. There are about 200 member stars spread over about 20 arc minutes. This image replaces and earlier image that can be seen in the Archives here .  Horizontal FOV is 32'

Image center is approximately - Equatorial 2000: RA: 07h 02m 48s Dec: -08°23'00"
