NGC 7008 in Cygnus
|
Scope: C8 at f/10 Location: Del Mar, CA; 4 Nov. 2004; Camera: ToUcam SC3 Exposure: 16 x 20 sec and 16 x 72 sec exposures with IR filter 13 x 32 sec each RGB exposures. Processing: Images were captured in K3CCDTools. Aligned/stacked in Registax and saved as FITS. Luminance and Color channels were scaled and rough color balanced in Astroart. Channels were co-registered in Astroart. The 72 sec exposure was used as the base Luminance channel. The shorter Luminance exposure was used to reduce star size on the brighter stars (with limited success). Minimum filter with mask was used to achieve final star size on the bright stars. Luminance and Color FITS were combined in Photoshop with Luminance Layering. Color balancing and final touches in Photoshop. SGBNR (PixInsight LE) was used to smooth background noise on the luminance channel. Resized to approximately 800x600. This image was guided. This image was taken at a fairly light polluted site but the long focal length limited the sky glow on the 72 second exposure. This object is sometimes called the Fetus Nebula due to its distinctive shape. Horizontal FOV is 8'
